If Not This Life

House rules

This is a quiet place where people share things that matter to them. The rules are short so that everyone can remember them.

  1. Be kind. Someone on the other side may be having the worst week of their life. Reply the way you would want someone to reply to you.
  2. No hate. No insults, slurs, threats or mocking of anyone's grief, faith, body, origin or identity.
  3. No personal details. Do not post full names, addresses, phone numbers, workplaces or photos of real people, yours included.
  4. No links or advertising. Links are blocked. Do not sell, promote or ask people to message you elsewhere.
  5. No harmful instructions. Talking about pain is welcome. Describing ways to hurt yourself or others is not.
  6. No sexual content, and nothing involving minors in any way.
  7. 16 or older. You must be at least 16 to take part.

How moderation works

Every message is checked automatically before it appears. Some messages wait for a person to look at them first; while they wait, only you can see them.

Anyone can report a message. A moderator reads every report, and a message that several people report is hidden until it has been reviewed.

Moderators can remove messages and stop people from posting. The rules above are the whole list.

If someone may be in danger

Report the message and choose “Someone may be in danger”. We are not a crisis service, so if you are worried about someone right now, the helplines can do far more than we can.
